From my vantage point in this painting of Cape Blanco, I feel suspended above the meeting of land and sea. The rugged cliffs curve away into the distance, their earthy tones fading into soft blue headlands. A solitary sea stack rises from the water like a weathered pillar, waves curling and breaking around its base in strokes of white. The sky is a clear, bright blue, giving the whole scene a feeling of openness and quiet power. It captures not just the coastline, but the wild, expansive calm of standing there myself.
